Abstract:Objective To investigate the current situation of the professional identity and cognitive level of specialist nurses among student nurses. Methods 〓A total of 224 nursing interns were investigated by using Professional Identity Questionnaire and Questionnaire of Cognition About Specialist Nurses. Results 〓The score of professional identity was(56.09±12.35)points and the score of cognition about clinical specialist nurses was(16.64±4.26)points. The total score of Cognition About Specialist Nurses was positively correlated with professional identity, professional self-concept, retention benefits and turnover risk, social comparison and self-reflection, social modeling(r=0.389, P<0.001; r=0.256, P<0.001; r=0.266,P<0.001; r=0.246, P=0.001; r=0.173, P=0.010). Conclusion 〓The professional identity and cognition about specialist nurses were both in the intermediate level, and there was a positively correlation between professional identity and cognition about specialist nurses. Nursing educators and clinical managers should take effective measures to enhance the role of specialist nurses in the nursing profession education, so as to improve the professional identity of nursing students.
