Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between level of self-mindfulness and job burnout among operating room nurses. Methods 〓Totally 60 operating room nurses were selected and investigated with the Mindfulness Attention and Awareness Scale(MAAS)and the Chinese-version of Maslach Burnout Inventory(MBI). Results 〓The factor score of emotional exhaustion, depersonalized and person accomplishment was(26.37±6.29),(6.81±7.36)and(34.89±8.21), respectively. Compared with the international norms, nurses in this study achieved a higher score of emotional exhaustion and lower score of person accomplishment, which represented a relatively high level of job burnout. The score of MAAS was 47.82±6.86, and 46.67% of nurses were in moderate self-mindfulness. The level of self-mindfulness of operating room nurses was negatively correlated with emotional exhaustion(r=-0.215,P<0.05)and depersonalized(r=-0.125,P<0.05), and positively correlated with person accomplishment(r=0.193,P<0.05). Conclusion 〓The level of self-mindfulness of operating room nurses is closely related to work burnout. Positive measures can be taken to improve the level of self-mindfulness of operating room nurses, so as to reduce work pressure and job burnout.
